Walk off the sand and straight onto the water. Kayaks and for hire by the hour at Wenderholm Regional Park.
Through the summer season we set up at Wenderholm Regional Park, so you can walk straight off the beach and onto the water. No driving anywhere, no waiting for a shuttle — just pick your craft and go.
Wenderholm sits where the Puhoi River meets the sea, which means calm estuary water on one side and open beach on the other. It is one of the easiest places in Auckland to get afloat, and a lovely spot for an hour or an afternoon with family.
This is hire by the hour, so you choose how long you are out. It also makes a natural add-on if you have kayaked the river with us and want more time on the water at the other end.
All safety gear is supplied and fitted, and we brief you before you head out.

Wenderholm is one of Auckland's best-loved regional parks — a sandy beach, a sheltered estuary, and a headland of native bush with walking tracks above it.
You can paddle the calm water inside the river mouth, take a kayak along the beach, or simply drift and enjoy the view back towards the bush. It is sheltered enough to suit beginners and children, and pretty enough that adults stay out longer than they planned.
Combine it with a picnic on the sand, or walk one of the park tracks while you are there. It is the perfect counterpart to the river trip upstream.

Beach hire operates during the summer season. Please get in touch with Deb or Mark to ask about availability and arrange your hire.
